The usurpation and or seizing of a political opportunity/conflict/feud for the sake of personal and or political expediency and political gain. Comments: Margaret Carlson was devastatingly funny and witheringly sarcastic when she referred to Sarah and Todd Palin as the Princess Diana and Prince Charles of the Klondike and some of her other comments. Not to be missed. Regarding the David Letterman vs. Sarah and Todd Palin on some jokes he admitted were in poor taste regarding their daughter, Bristol.

Mannclysm

Mannclysm: The very unfortunate Portmanteau of Manny Ramirez and cataclysm. Witness the effect of the most recent MLB scandal affecting the LA Dodger's sterling performance colliding * with the alleged use and/or abuse of substances such as or like Human chorionic gonadotropin by one of their star players. Definition: The cataclysmic and largely unexpected and undesired result on a sport's team's stellar performance in the aftermath of a top team member caught being tainted by performance-enhancing or other substances. References: Manny tests positive, is suspended 50 games, Hours after Manny news, Dodgers blow big lead, Dodgers tie MLB record with 12-0 home start and Manny Takes an Asterisk on Countdown with Keith Olbermann on MSNBC.

And, is the title of the Countdown video essay/report prescient or precognitive? Will Manny not just be taking the asterisk, but the fifth? ("As your attorney, I advise you to start drinking heavily.").

Mannpoon: (Here we go again...) This time, its the tainted, tawdry, tragic and troubled portmanteau of Manny Ramirez and lampoon as witnessed on "Manny Takes an Asterisk" on Countdown with Keith Olbermann on MSNBC (last night, Thursday, May 7, 2009). Definition: The deliberate lampooning of and while reporting on a major sporting/ professional figure mired in some new and unfortunate controversy. Reference: Manny tests positive, is suspended 50 games.

The folks at MSNBC seem to have a great talent (or procilivity) for this sort of thing, see also: Kenpoon.

Twake or Twaking

Twake: Fake + twitter = twake. Literally, to fake somebody else’s Twitter account (usually by an impostor using somebody else’s name, like a celebrity or some other notable). Example: As Keith Olbermann of MSNBC’s Countdown famously exposed last night (Friday, 3/20/2009) that he does NOT have a Twitter account, even though he has a following of some 13,000+ people (on Twitter). As Keith exposed, that is not an account set up by him, so you’re never really sure when somebody is “twaking” a twitter account.
