Redletterman: The very unfortunate portmanteau of (David) Letterman and embarrassed (as in "red-faced") or caught (as in "red-handed" or - somewhat ironically - The Scarlet Letter). With reference to the embarrassing on-air admission by the celebrity regarding some of his dalliances. And, unfortunately, Thursday, October 1, was not exactly a Red-letter day for Dave.
